The Shelbyville Police Department continues to provide professional law enforcement services to the community. During this stressful period, citizens are reminded to remain diligent and continue to practice crime preventive strategies. Keep vehicle doors locked and items such as cell phones out of sight. Remember to lock all exterior doors at night and anytime leaving the residence, even if for a few minutes. If you see anything that seems suspicious please do not hesitate to contact Central Dispatch.
Several changes will start tomorrow at 9:00 AM in order to assist in keeping everyone in the community safe. Out of caution, officers will observe “social distancing” in the field, following current World Health Organization recommendations. The Shelbyville Police Department business office will remain open during regular hours but it is suggested that transactions be conducted over the phone if possible. Routine fingerprinting will also be suspended. These new protocols will continue until further notice.
We continue to ask that everyone check on their neighbors and work together to keep our community strong. Winston Churchill once said; “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” The Shelbyville Police Department is focused on “serving and protecting” our community.
